Project Overview
TikTok aimed to create an exclusive oasis for the world’s top content creators attending Playlist Live, an annual convention held in Orlando, Florida, primarily for YouTube and TikTok creators. Inspired by the visual language of tropical motels, our team at Rock+Paper designed an engaging lounge experience that reflects the brand’s culture and creativity. The space featured unique elements that encouraged social sharing, resulting in a fun and irreverent environment ideal for TikTok’s prominent personalities to connect, participate in creative activities, and produce engaging content for their followers.

Experiential design activation: Large custom 3D motel sign with neon lights that says "TikTok Motel Lounge"

Design elements

Inspired by classic kitschy motel signage, the logo comes to life with a custom-built neon motel sign. The overall branding draws from lush greenery, beach textures, and a tropical color palette, which is applied throughout the space through environmental graphics, custom giveaway items, and experiential moments.

Installations

A gift shop installation showcased playful, motel-themed souvenirs such as branded tote bags, fanny packs, keychains, and illustrated postcards inspired by trending TikTok hashtags. Additionally, there was a DIY visor station equipped with custom stickers that guests could personalize. Other installations designed to spark imagination and creativity were strategically placed throughout the space, fostering human connection and encouraging social sharing.
