Project Overview
TikTok aimed to craft an exclusive retreat for the world’s top content creators at Playlist Live, an annual convention in Orlando, Florida, celebrating YouTube and TikTok creators and their fans. Drawing inspiration from the playful aesthetic of vintage tropical motels, our team at Rock+Paper designed an immersive lounge experience that embodied TikTok’s vibrant culture and creativity. The space featured distinctive, shareable elements that encouraged social interaction and content creation. It provided the perfect setting for TikTok’s leading creators to connect, participate in engaging activities, and produce captivating content for their audiences.

Experiential design activation: Large custom 3D motel sign with neon lights that says "TikTok Motel Lounge"

Design elements

The lounge comes to life with a custom-built neon motel sign at the entrance, inspired by iconic kitschy motel signage. The branding features lush greenery, beach-inspired textures, and a vibrant tropical color palette. These elements are woven throughout the space, appearing in environmental graphics, custom giveaway items, and interactive experiential moments.

Installations

The gift shop installation featured fun, motel-inspired souvenirs, including branded tote bags, fanny packs, keychains, and illustrated postcards inspired by trending TikTok hashtags. Guests could also visit a DIY visor station stocked with custom stickers to personalize their creations. Throughout the space, thoughtfully designed installations sparked imagination and creativity, promoting meaningful interactions and inspiring social sharing.
